Residential building on Samad Vurgun street

The author of the project of a residential building located on Samed Vurgun Street (formerly Krasnovodskaya Street), 7, is the architect John Wilhelm Edel (1863 - 14.02.1932). The building was built in 1898.

The residential building, with its volume, scale and the nature of the architectural solution in the free interpretation of classical forms, occupies a key position in the architectural and planning structure of this section of the city.

Thanks to monumental facades in classical forms, proportional articulations of architectural masses, corner and frontal bracing, skillful use of elements of the order system, the house gained importance in the architecture of Baku.

In the work of John Edel, the house occupies a prominent place and is an architectural monument of Baku from the late XIX - early XX century.
