The building for the Baku Provincial Treasury was built on Bul-Bul Avenue (former Bolshaya Morskaya Street), 8 in 1892-1893 according to the project of architect John Wilhelm Edel (1863 - 14.02.1932).

The building, erected in the principles of a strict neo-Greek system and classical symmetry, with the techniques of the order system, reflects the direction of this style of architecture that prevailed in the late XIX and early XX centuries, not only in Baku, but also on a European scale.

This building is one of the many works of the architect John Wilhelm Edel, which we can see in almost all the central streets of Baku: monumental, finely drawn and well-built, they are architectural monuments.
